Australia (N Queensland), Papua New Guinea, Philippines. MASBATE, TICAO. Rather dry places in monsoon areas, in scrub, open forest, dry gallery forest, an on roadsides, 0-200m.
  2. Stemona tuberosa Lour., Fl. Cochinch. (1790) 404; --Merr., EPFP 1 (1922) 202; --Buysen, Fl. Males. ser. 1, 11 (1993) 405; --Type: No specimen found, the illustration in Rumph., Herb. Amb. 5 (1747) 365 “Ubi Gorita nigrum”, t. 129, serving as lectotype.
